Do Small Things with Great Love

Peace to you!
After attending Oxford and Harvard and working in investment banking, I had a spiritual experience that led me to leave the path of success to live in monasteries for over 7 years.
Through this newsletter, I share practical wisdom from my experience in the monastery. I hope it’s fruitful for your journey!
Each week, the Monk Mindset newsletter comes with:

Monk Mindset for Living Well
Monk Mindset 5
Choose Love: Love is Your Purpose

Reflection on the Monk Mindset and Quote
The most meaningful or treasured experiences of love in our lives are often seemingly small things – a kind word or piece of advice at the right time, or perhaps just spending time with someone who loved us.
The most profound opportunities to demonstrate love are often hidden and seemingly small in the moment.
But in being faithful to love in small things, we will be ready for love in big ways.
Sometimes we postpone acts of kindness or love thinking that we’ll perform good acts later when something big comes along. But, love is born out in the little activities of life – a smile to someone who’s difficult, a kind word when someone’s struggling, biting our tongue when everything in us wants to lash out.
Little acts of love strewn together are actually big and they define who we become.
Put It Into Practice This Week
Call to mind one moment where you profoundly understood you were loved. Sit with it a moment and enjoy how it feels.
What is one way in which you can pass this love on to someone else in your life?
Wishing you abundant peace this week,
John

It’s so hard building prayer and meditation routines into the day.
So I created a mini-course based on my 7+ years in the monastery and coaching hundreds of founders & CEOs to walk step-by-step through how monks and nuns go deep in prayer and meditation.
It also includes very practical guidance for how to implement these approaches in your life. Would be honored for you to check it out!
