Show Up and Receive the Light: Prayer and Meditation

Reflection on the Monk Mindset and Quote
St. Bernard summarizes the Advent mystery. Although it can seem distant and abstract – Jesus was actually a real baby born in a tiny town in obscurity. Christians believe that God is born, “incarnated” as the person of Jesus Christ.
This incarnation happened in about the most hidden way possible – anonymously in an animal food stall (manger) outside of a tiny town.
Yet – this is exactly how God typically is born into our lives, from moment to moment. Hidden, obscure, hardly recognizable.
We cannot live in the past and we may not have the future. But we have the present moment. And this is where God meets us – in the interactions with a family member or neighbor. In the way in which we work. In the fidelity to show up for prayer.
We have faith that Jesus was born, lived, died, and resurrected and that I have true life because of this redemption.
We have hope that He will come in the future.
And we encounter him in love this moment right now. As you read this very word, he is yearning to live His life within you so that you may be love in the world right now.
